Frequently asked questions

What is a PID?

A PID (Product Identifier) is a product code that lets EU customs see clearly what is in each parcel, so product safety can be checked. From 1 November 2026, parcels sold online to consumers in the EU must carry this information to clear customs.

Who is affected by the PID rule?

Mainly anyone selling online to general consumers in the EU (B2C), whether on a marketplace or on their own website. The rule applies even to goods worth under €150.

How many types of PID are there, and which codes do I need?

There are 3: M-PID, your store's product code such as a SKU; NS-PID, the manufacturer's model code; and S-PID, an international standard code such as GTIN or EAN. The rule requires these codes, but if you don't have them yet, CONNEX has a solution.

What if my product has no PID or no S-PID (GTIN / EAN)?

No need to worry. The rule requires these codes, but if you don't have them yet, CONNEX has a solution so you can ship to Europe as normal. Talk to the CONNEX team about what your products need.

Can CONNEX still ship to Europe after 1 Nov?

Yes. CONNEX has a solution for the PID rule for both general customers and marketplace sellers, so you can keep shipping to Europe as normal.

How should I prepare before shipping to Europe?

Check the SKU of every product, gather the model and standard codes (GTIN / EAN) you already have, and make sure the data matches each model, colour and size. For codes you don't have yet, CONNEX has a solution.

What does CONNEX cost?

CONNEX is free to use. You pay only for shipping when you send a parcel, which varies by destination country and weight.
